From a Form Submission to Forever: Hensen’s San Diego Proposal at Balboa Park

When Hensen reached out through one of our blog forms about planning a surprise proposal in San Diego, we knew this would be a story worth telling. What started as a simple inquiry turned into one of the most memorable shoots we’ve had at Balboa Park, one of Southern California’s most iconic proposal locations. His original plan to propose at Scripps Pier in La Jolla fell through when it temporarily closed, so we quickly pivoted — scouting, planning, and adapting to make sure the moment was perfect. On the day of the proposal, we met unexpected challenges: shifting light, timing delays, and a little improvisation. But through it all, Hensen stayed calm, his excitement never wavering. When he finally dropped to one knee in Alcazar Garden, golden sunlight framed every tear, laugh, and reaction. This San Diego proposal reminded us why we do what we do — capturing real, emotional, once-in-a-lifetime moments that unfold beautifully, even when plans change.
