One of the biggest challenges for destination couples is choosing a location they've never seen before.
Joshua Tree National Park is filled with incredible overlooks, hidden trails, massive rock formations, and iconic Joshua trees, but every location creates a completely different experience.
Before recommending anything, we asked Zach a few simple questions.
Did he imagine mountain views?
Towering Joshua trees?
Open desert?
Privacy?
The answer that stood out most was this:
He wanted somewhere quiet where the moment could feel like it belonged only to the two of them.

What You Should Know About Proposing at Victoria Beach
Victoria Beach is one of the most beautiful proposal locations in Orange County, but it's also one of the easiest places to underestimate.
The beach is accessed through a residential neighborhood just off Coast Highway. Parking is extremely limited, especially on weekends and holidays, so arriving early is essential. Depending on availability, you may need to park along Coast Highway and walk through the neighborhood before reaching the stairs that lead down to the beach.
The biggest factor, however, is the tide.
The famous pirate tower sits near the shoreline, and during high tide, waves can completely surround the area. On certain days, the water rises enough that walking around the tower becomes difficult—or even unsafe.
Because of that, we always monitor tide conditions before recommending Victoria Beach for a proposal.
For Danny's proposal, we arrived well before he did to make sure everything looked exactly as expected.
Once we confirmed the tide was low enough and conditions were safe, we sent him the thumbs up.
It was time.
The Proposal
Stephanie and I blended in like tourists, walking around taking photos while keeping an eye on the trail leading toward the tower.
A few minutes later, we spotted Danny and Bri making their way down the beach.
As planned, we casually walked over and asked if they wouldn't mind taking a quick photo for us.

We sent Nathan our GPS location and confirmed that we would be at the proposal spot by 9:00 AM.
When we arrived, we couldn't have asked for better conditions.
The famous La Jolla marine layer had rolled in overnight, creating the soft overcast skies that photographers love. The clouds acted like a giant natural diffuser, producing beautiful, even light without harsh shadows.

Efrain reached out to us through Instagram after seeing photos we captured inside the Japanese Friendship Garden at Balboa Park in San Diego. Inspired by the peaceful scenery and iconic earth bridge overlooking the koi pond, he wanted to plan a surprise proposal for his girlfriend, Areli. After securing the garden reservation and coordinating the timing before the garden opened to the public, we helped plan a quiet morning proposal. The First Message
In mid-January, Efrain contacted us through our Instagram page. He had come across photos we captured at the Japanese Friendship Garden inside Balboa Park and immediately connected with the setting.
He explained that he wanted something quiet, natural, and meaningful — a proposal surrounded by water, gardens, and peaceful scenery.
After learning more about our surprise proposal photography packages in San Diego, Efrain asked about reserving the garden and how the process worked. We walked him through the logistics, the timing, and the strategy that helps keep proposals a complete surprise.

As the days led up to February 10, we finalized the exact proposal location inside the garden: the earth bridge overlooking the koi pond.

That meant we would have a full hour of quiet space with almost no crowds — perfect conditions for a surprise proposal.

Arriving Before the Garden Opened
On the morning of the proposal, we arrived before 9:00 AM to get into position and prepare.
