One of the biggest surprises for visitors is parking.
Victoria Beach does not have a large public parking lot directly next to the beach.
Most visitors either:
Find metered parking along Pacific Coast Highway (Coast Highway)
Find legal street parking in the surrounding neighborhood (always follow posted parking regulations)
During summer weekends and holidays, parking fills quickly.
We usually recommend arriving 45–60 minutes before you actually plan on walking down to the beach.
Giving yourself extra time removes unnecessary stress and helps keep the proposal relaxed.
How Do You Get to Victoria Beach?
After parking, you'll walk through the residential neighborhood until you reach the public beach access staircase.
The walk itself isn't difficult, but it can surprise first-time visitors because the entrance is tucked between homes rather than a large public parking area.
Once you reach the sand, turn toward the Pirate Tower and enjoy one of Laguna Beach's most scenic walks.

This is probably the biggest planning mistake we see.
Many people assume Victoria Beach looks exactly the same all day.
It doesn't.
The Pirate Tower sits very close to the shoreline, which means the ocean changes the landscape throughout the day.
During higher tides, the water can cover much of the sand surrounding the tower, making it difficult—or even unsafe—to walk around it.
That's why we always check tide conditions before recommending proposal times.

How to Read the Tide Chart (The Easy Version)
If you've never looked at a tide chart before, don't worry.
It's much simpler than it looks.
Think of the graph like rolling hills.
When the line reaches its lowest point, that's low tide.
When it reaches the highest point, that's high tide.

Parking also deserves planning.

After several phone calls and planning sessions, we came up with a different idea.
To help keep the proposal a complete surprise, we actually moved the proposal date forward to Memorial Day, May 25, throwing his girlfriend completely off the trail.
