Don't Take Our Word For It. Hear It From the Couples We've Had the Honor of Photographing.

Choosing a surprise proposal photographer or wedding photographer is a big decision. Every photographer can tell you why they're the right choice, but the real story comes from the couples they've worked with. This collection of reviews comes directly from the people who trusted Last Minute Photoshoot to capture one of the biggest moments of their lives—from surprise proposals and engagements to intimate weddings and elopements throughout Southern California. Their words highlight the planning, communication, attention to detail, and experience that made their day unforgettable. Instead of hearing it from us, hear it from the couples whose love stories we've had the honor of documenting.

Before Last Minute Photoshoot even had a name, this was us dreaming about what our future might look like. We had just left our 9-to-5 jobs, were working gig jobs to get by, and had no idea what was ahead. Looking back, we're incredibly grateful to every client who trusted us with their story. Because of you, our dream became a reality.

There are thousands of photographers throughout Southern California.

Every website says they provide beautiful photos.
Every website says they care about their clients.
Every website says they'll make the experience stress-free.

The truth is...

Anyone can say those things.

What's much harder is having dozens of real couples independently describe their experience after everything is over.

That's why we wanted to create this page.

Not to tell you why we believe we're different.

But to let our clients tell you in their own words.

Whether you're planning a surprise proposal in San Diego, an engagement session in Laguna Beach, a courthouse wedding, or an intimate elopement, we hope these stories help you feel confident knowing what it's actually like to work with us.

The Greatest Compliment We Can Receive Is Being Trusted With Your Story.
These aren't paid endorsements or carefully crafted marketing quotes—they're words from real couples who invited us into some of the happiest moments of their lives. Every review reminds us why we left our 9-to-5 jobs to build Last Minute Photoshoot. Whether you're planning a surprise proposal, engagement session, courthouse wedding, or full wedding day, we'd love the opportunity to earn your trust and create an experience worth writing about. When you're ready, we'll be here to help make your moment unforgettable. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

A Common Theme We Keep Seeing

After reading through our reviews, we noticed something interesting.

Very few people start by talking about the photographs.

Instead...

They talk about how they felt.

That surprised us.

"They Made the Entire Process Simple."

Marcus wrote:

"They created a detailed timeline and cover story... the amount of effort they put in outside of the actual photoshoot was amazing."

Planning starts long before anyone stands in front of our camera.

For many couples, the planning, location scouting, proposal strategy, and timeline are just as valuable as the photos themselves.

"They Saved the Day."

Miguel shared that his original photographer canceled at the last minute.

He trusted us to step in, capture his proposal, and help rescue one of the biggest days of his life.

Those are moments we never take lightly.

"Communication Was Incredible."

Robert found us while researching San Diego proposal photographers.

One thing stood out to him:

"They responded immediately to my inquiry and were beyond communicative throughout the entire experience."

Communication isn't something we advertise.

It's simply how we believe people deserve to be treated.

"They Helped Me More Than I Expected."

Alan talked about everything that happened before the proposal:

  • Planning

  • Cover story

  • Location scouting

  • Guidance

Many couples tell us they expected someone to simply show up with a camera.

Instead, they found a planning partner.

"They Made Us Feel Comfortable."

Whether it was Ryan...

Daniel...

Theo...

Danica...

or Katelyn...

One phrase appears over and over again.

They made us feel comfortable.

We believe genuine smiles happen when people stop worrying about the camera.

That's why we spend as much time building trust as we do creating photographs.

"The Photos Were Amazing..."

Of course.

We're photographers.

Beautiful images matter.

But what means even more to us is that so many reviews mention the experience first.

The photographs become the lasting reminder of a day that already felt effortless.

What These Reviews Mean to Us

Every five-star review represents much more than another rating.

It's someone's proposal.

Someone's engagement.

Someone's wedding.

Someone trusting us with a memory they'll look back on for decades.

That's something we never want to take for granted.

Ready to Plan Your Proposal?

If you've read through these reviews and feel like we'd be the right fit, we'd love to help you create a proposal that's just as memorable.

Whether you already know exactly where you want to propose or have no idea where to start, we're happy to help with the planning, location scouting, timeline, photography, and everything in between.

A Sunset Cliffs Surprise Proposal That Almost Didn't Happen | Chris & Daniella's San Diego Proposal Story

Planning a Sunset Cliffs surprise proposal in San Diego takes more than showing up with a ring—it takes preparation, flexibility, and experience. Chris contacted us months before his proposal, and together we planned every detail, from GPS meeting points and proposal cues to backup plans. When heavy winter rains left our original proposal location unsafe, we quickly found a nearby overlook with the same breathtaking Pacific Ocean views. The proposal went exactly as planned, and Daniella said yes. Follow along as we share how we planned this unforgettable Sunset Cliffs proposal, the behind-the-scenes decisions that made it successful, and expert planning tips for anyone searching for a trusted San Diego proposal photographer or planning their own surprise engagement.

When Chris first reached out to us in early April, his message was simple:

"Hey, my name is Chris. I'm looking to propose to my girlfriend while we're down in San Diego on April 25. Hoping we can plan something out."

Those messages are some of our favorites to receive.

Because surprise proposals are incredibly time-sensitive, we replied immediately—something we've become known for over the years. Within a few conversations, we had learned about Chris, discussed several proposal locations around San Diego, answered his questions, and helped him choose Sunset Cliffs as the perfect place to ask one of the biggest questions of his life.

That same day, Chris officially booked us.

The Perfect Proposal Doesn't Always Happen on the First Date You Pick
Sometimes the best decision isn't pushing forward—it's waiting until the moment feels right. We know proposal plans don't always go exactly as expected. Illness, weather, travel delays, and unexpected life events happen. That's why we're here to help adjust timelines, coordinate new plans, and make sure that when the day finally arrives, you can focus on the moment instead of the logistics.

Choose Your Proposal Experience

Sometimes the Best Proposal Plans Require Patience

Everything was scheduled for April 25.

The timeline was complete.

The GPS location was shared.

The cover story was planned.

Then life happened.

A few days before the proposal, Daniella came down with a cold. Rather than forcing the moment, Chris made the decision to postpone the proposal until she felt better.

Looking back, it was the right call.

A proposal only happens once, and it's worth waiting until both people can fully enjoy it.

Several weeks later, we picked up exactly where we left off and began preparing for their new June proposal date.

Our Sunset Cliffs Proposal Plan

One of the biggest reasons couples hire us isn't just for photography—it's because we help remove as much uncertainty as possible.

For Chris, the plan was intentionally simple.

He would walk to the GPS location we'd already shared.

Steph and I would already be nearby blending into the scenery.

As he approached, he'd casually ask,

"Would you mind taking a photo of us?"

We'd happily agree, help pose them naturally, and after taking a few photos we'd give him the cue we'd practiced beforehand.

That was his signal.

Everything after that belonged to Chris and Daniella.

The speech.

The ring.

The emotion.

Our job was simply to disappear into the background and document it.

Even After Hundreds of Proposals, We Still Get Nervous

People often ask if photographing surprise proposals gets easier.

The answer?

Not really.

Even after documenting countless proposals across Sunset Cliffs, La Jolla, Balboa Park, Laguna Beach, Joshua Tree, and throughout Southern California, Steph and I still feel butterflies before every single one.

Not because we're unsure of the plan.

Because we genuinely care.

We know months of planning often lead up to these few minutes.

Family members are waiting for updates.

Flights have been booked.

Dinner reservations are scheduled.

A ring has been hidden for weeks.

There are no do-overs.

Every proposal matters just as much as the first one we ever photographed.

An Unexpected Challenge at Sunset Cliffs

As we always do, we arrived about an hour early.

Early arrival gives us time to scout the location, monitor lighting, and make adjustments before our clients arrive.

That habit ended up making all the difference.

The exact section of Sunset Cliffs where we'd originally planned for Chris to propose had recently been closed off with warning signs.

Months of heavy rain had caused noticeable cracks along the cliff edge, and portions of the area were considered unstable.

Instead of forcing the original plan, we immediately started looking for alternatives.

Fortunately, only a short walk away we found another overlook that offered nearly the same iconic Pacific Ocean backdrop while providing a much safer location.

We sent Chris an update before he arrived, explained the situation, and adjusted the GPS meeting point.

The proposal experience stayed exactly the same.

Only the location shifted a few yards.

That's why arriving early—and knowing the area well—is such an important part of planning a surprise proposal at Sunset Cliffs.

The Moment Everything Came Together

Soon enough we spotted Chris and Daniella walking toward us.

They smiled.

Chris asked if we could take their photo.

Exactly as planned.

We positioned them toward the ocean, snapped a few natural images, then delivered the cue we'd rehearsed.

Chris took a deep breath.

He began his proposal.

A few moments later, he was down on one knee.

The nerves disappeared.

The tears showed up.

And Daniella said yes.

Those few minutes are why we love photographing surprise proposals.

Every couple has a different story, but the feeling in that moment is always unforgettable.

Last-Minute Marine Proposal at La Jolla Gliderport | Ami & Nahomy's Surprise Engagement Story

When Ashley reached out just four days before her son Ami planned to propose, we knew we had to help make it happen. Stationed at Camp Pendleton, Ami was flying his girlfriend Nahomy in from Texas for the weekend and wanted to create a proposal she would never forget. After discussing locations, timelines, and proposal ideas, we landed on one of San Diego's most iconic coastal locations: La Jolla Gliderport. The day before the proposal, we scouted the area and decided to surprise the couple with our Signature Yes setup as a small thank-you to a Marine serving our country. With sweeping ocean views, golden light, and an emotional proposal overlooking the Pacific, this last-minute engagement became one of our favorite La Jolla proposal stories to date.

Newly engaged couple embracing after a surprise proposal at La Jolla Gliderport, captured during golden hour with ocean cliffs overlooking the Pacific in San Diego.

Moments after saying yes, Ami and Nahomy embrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean at La Jolla Gliderport. Planned in just four days, their surprise proposal featured our Last Minute Yes Package and Signature Yes setup, creating an unforgettable San Diego engagement experience.

Some of our favorite proposal stories begin with a simple message.

On the late afternoon of May 19th, we received an inquiry from Ashley. Her son, Ami, a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, had decided he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Nahomy, during her upcoming visit from Texas. The proposal was only four days away, scheduled for May 23rd in San Diego.

With such a short timeline, there wasn't much room for overthinking.

Stephanie and I immediately jumped on a call with Ashley to start planning.

We shared examples from previous surprise proposals, discussed different lighting options throughout the day, reviewed several proposal locations throughout San Diego, and began building a game plan that would fit Ami and Nahomy's story.

After discussing several possibilities, we all agreed on one location that never disappoints: La Jolla Gliderport.

Perched high above the Pacific Ocean, the Gliderport offers sweeping coastal views, dramatic cliffs, and some of the most beautiful sunsets in Southern California. It felt like the perfect backdrop for a proposal.

For Ashley, planning everything from hundreds of miles away wasn't easy.

She was trusting two photographers she had never met, in a city she wasn't familiar with, to help pull off one of the most important moments in her son's life.

That trust is something we never take lightly.

Whether a proposal is planned a year in advance or only a few days before, every client who reaches out is placing an incredible amount of faith in us, and we feel a responsibility to deliver.

As the planning continued, Stephanie and I wanted to make this proposal even more meaningful.

The day before the proposal, we drove to La Jolla Gliderport to scout the location.

We walked the cliffs, studied the lighting, watched how the crowds moved through the area, and searched for the perfect place to create something special.

That's when we found it.

Tucked along the coastline was an ideal spot for our Signature Yes setup, complete with our arch, florals, candles, and rose petals overlooking the Pacific.

The idea felt right immediately.

As a small gesture of appreciation for the men and women who serve our country, we wanted to gift the setup to Ami and Nahomy.

The Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis — "Always Faithful" — represents loyalty, commitment, and devotion. As we thought about Ami preparing to ask Nahomy to spend the rest of his life with him, the meaning couldn't have felt more fitting.

We shared the idea with Ashley.

She loved it.

The plan was set.

The morning of the proposal, we were already in San Diego photographing another surprise proposal. Once that session wrapped up, we headed straight to La Jolla to secure the location and begin setting up.

As the afternoon turned into evening, the Pacific Ocean glowed beneath the cliffs while we added the final touches to the setup.

Then we saw them.

Ami and Nahomy slowly made their way toward the overlook.

Before a single word was spoken, Nahomy immediately noticed the setup.

The surprise on her face said everything.

As she approached the arch overlooking the ocean, surrounded by flowers, candles, and the sound of waves crashing below, Ami got down on one knee and asked the question he had traveled, planned, and prepared for.

Without hesitation, she said yes.

The moment was emotional, genuine, and exactly what a proposal should be.

After giving them a few moments to soak everything in, we captured the celebration that followed—laughter, happy tears, hugs, and the excitement that comes from starting a new chapter together.

As the sun dipped toward the horizon, we finished the evening with a short engagement session around the cliffs of La Jolla Gliderport, making the most of the final golden light before it disappeared behind the Pacific.

Looking back, it's hard to believe this entire proposal came together in only four days.

But sometimes the best stories aren't the ones planned for months.

Sometimes they're built on trust, a little creativity, a lot of teamwork, and people coming together to make something unforgettable happen.

Ashley trusted us.

Ami trusted us.

And we're grateful we were able to play a small role in helping tell their story.

1. Start with Google—but Use Smart Search Terms

Most people begin their search on Google or Google Maps. But it’s not just about typing “photographer near me.” Use more specific phrases to narrow your results and bring up photographers who specialize in what you’re looking for.

Try these smart search terms:

  • “Family photographer in [City Name]”

  • “Engagement photographer Temecula”

  • “Graduation photos in San Diego”

  • “Professional headshots Riverside County”

  • “Maternity photographer Palm Springs”

Then check out their:

  • Google Business profile for reviews, hours, and real client photos.

  • Map location to see if they’re local and willing to travel.

  • Ratings – don’t just look at the stars, read what people are actually saying.

2. Dive Into Instagram & TikTok

Photographers are visual creators—and Instagram and TikTok are their portfolios.

Search hashtags like:

  • #TemeculaPhotographer

  • #SanDiegoMaternityPhotos

  • #LosAngelesEngagementPhotographer

  • #PalmSpringsBrandShoot

Tips to use social media wisely:

  • Save your favorite posts to build a style board.

  • Look at how they caption their work—are they storytelling or just snapping?

  • DM them directly to inquire about availability or packages.

3. Ask Your Community

Your best resource might be closer than you think. Ask people in your network or in your neighborhood groups for recommendations.

Where to ask:

  • Local Facebook groups (search “Temecula Moms” or “SoCal Creative Entrepreneurs”)

  • Reddit subs like r/Temecula, r/SanDiego, or r/AskPhotography

  • Wedding or parenting forums

When someone loves their photos, they’re usually excited to refer the person who made it happen.

4. Check Their Website & Portfolio Carefully

A photographer’s website should give you all the information you need at a glance: style, pricing, and contact options.

What to look for:

  • Style consistency: Do their edits feel light and airy? Moody? Editorial? Make sure it fits your vibe.

  • Types of sessions offered: Some photographers specialize in families, others in events, others in elopements.

  • Turnaround time: When will you get your photos?

  • Transparent pricing: Are the packages clear, or do you have to guess?

Bonus points if the website includes testimonials, a blog with helpful tips, or behind-the-scenes info about their approach.

5. Explore Photography Directories & Marketplaces

If you’re having trouble narrowing it down, browse listings on trusted marketplaces:

  • Thumbtack – filters by budget, reviews, and availability

  • The Knot or Zola – wedding-centric but great for engagement or couple shoots

  • Bark – lets you submit your needs and get matched with local pros

  • Peerspace – great for finding not only photographers but creative shoot locations

6. Go Beyond Digital—Visit Local Businesses

If you prefer something tangible, visit local:

  • Coffee shops

  • Boutiques

  • Art walks or markets

Photographers often leave business cards or flyers at these spots—or may be the official photographer at the event.

Also, check out:

  • Event venues

  • Wineries and breweries

  • Florists and picnic set-up vendors (they often collaborate with photographers and can refer great ones)

7. Ask These Questions Before Booking

Once you’ve found a few photographers, schedule a quick phone call or Zoom. You’ll want to see if they’re the right fit both professionally and personally.

Questions to ask:

  • What’s your experience with [type of session]?

  • Can I see a full gallery of a recent shoot?

  • How many images are included, and are they high-resolution?

  • Do you provide guidance on posing or styling?

  • Do you offer location suggestions or help with permits?

  • What’s your editing style and turnaround time?

  • Do you offer prints, albums, or reels?

It’s not just about hiring a camera—it’s about working with someone who puts you at ease and elevates your vision.

8. Book Early—Especially for Busy Seasons

Photographers book out fast for:

  • Spring (Mother’s Day, graduation, spring minis)

  • Fall (family photos, engagements, holiday cards)

  • Weddings and elopements (year-round, but especially summer-fall)

If you see someone’s work you love, don’t wait—reach out and ask about their availability. Many also offer flexible packages for last-minute sessions.

9. Bonus Tip: Trust Your Gut

Sometimes you just click with a photographer. Maybe it’s their style, the way they make you feel during a conversation, or how excited they are about your shoot idea.

Trust that intuition.
