Finding the Perfect Proposal Location in Joshua Tree
One of the biggest challenges for destination couples is choosing a location they've never seen before.
Joshua Tree National Park is filled with incredible overlooks, hidden trails, massive rock formations, and iconic Joshua trees, but every location creates a completely different experience.
Before recommending anything, we asked Zach a few simple questions.
Did he imagine mountain views?

Afterward, we'd head toward Juniper Flats Backcountry, where endless Joshua trees and open desert landscapes create some of our favorite engagement photos in Southern California.
It was the perfect combination of sweeping mountain views and classic Joshua Tree scenery.

That may sound like a small detail, but on proposal day it's incredibly valuable.
It allows us to stay in communication with our clients, confirm arrival times, send updated GPS pins if needed, and make last-minute adjustments before the proposal begins. In a national park where reception is limited throughout most areas, Keys View provides an extra layer of confidence for couples traveling from out of state.

The Moment Everything Became Real
On the afternoon of July 18, Steph and I arrived at Keys View early.
We walked the overlook, watched how the light was changing, and settled into position while visitors admired the sweeping desert views.
A little while later, we saw Zach and Emily arrive.
After making subtle eye contact with Zach, we let them enjoy the scenery for a few moments before casually walking over.
To keep everything natural, I smiled and asked,
"Would you mind taking a quick photo of Stephanie and me? We'll return the favor afterward."
It's one of our favorite cover stories because it feels completely authentic in a place where everyone is already taking pictures.
After Zach handed the phone back, it became our turn.
We positioned them overlooking the valley.
Asked them to hold hands.
Then simply said,
"Look at each other."
That was all the cue Zach needed.
He took a deep breath.
Looked into Emily's eyes.
Shared a few heartfelt words.
Then dropped to one knee.
"Will you marry me?"
Without hesitation...
She said yes.
For a few quiet moments, everything else disappeared.
The overlook.
The visitors.
The mountains.
It became just the two of them beginning a brand-new chapter together.
Those are the moments we love documenting most.

From Mountain Views to Joshua Trees
After celebrating together, we spent another twenty minutes photographing Zach and Emily around Keys View while the evening light continued to soften.
Then we packed up and headed toward the second half of the experience.
Juniper Flats Backcountry.
The landscape changes dramatically.
Instead of standing high above the desert, you're surrounded by towering Joshua trees, rugged rock formations, and quiet dirt roads that seem to stretch forever.
By the time we arrived, the sunset had begun painting the sky in incredible shades of orange, pink, and purple.
The colors changed almost every minute.
As we wandered through the Joshua trees, Zach and Emily laughed, talked about everything that had just happened, admired the ring, and simply enjoyed being together.
